HCV Specialist Job Description:
The HCV Specialist provides critical support to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program by ensuring full compliance with HUD regulations and managing certifications for program participants. Reporting directly to the Director of the program, the Specialist plays a key role in coordinating housing services, engaging with residents, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Schedule and perform initial, annual, and interim certifications
Conduct briefing sessions and distribute program materials
Assist participants with housing searches and transfers
Determine Housing Assistance Payments and coordinate HAP contracts
Perform Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections
Prepare reports and assist with special projects
Maintain program data, documentation, and communication
HCV Specialist Job Requirements:
Thorough understanding of HUD certification processes
Knowledge of Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program policies
Ability to analyze and resolve participant issues professionally
Special Requirements:
Ability to obtain Rent Calculation Certification within 12 months
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
Computer literacy and clerical accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to foster professional relationships with property owners, community agencies, and residents
