Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour day that can start at 8am or 9am
Salary: Full-time Direct Hire, $60-70k/year plus benefits
Overview:
The Purchasing Lead is responsible for overseeing the purchasing, inventory management, and material coordination processes across the organization. This role ensures efficient procurement of raw materials and non-paper supplies while managing vendor relationships, maintaining cost control, and supporting production needs. The Purchasing Lead will lead the Purchasing and Inventory teams to drive operational excellence and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Works With: Purchasing Coordinators, Inventory Specialists, Project Managers, Accounting, Manufacturing, and Shipping Departments
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management:
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of raw materials and non-paper supplies.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
Approve purchase orders and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Inventory Oversight:
Monitor and manage inventory levels to minimize waste and ensure continuous supply of materials.
Oversee physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
Ensure accurate documentation of inventory transactions within the MIS system.
Operational Coordination:
Collaborate with Project Managers to determine material needs and coordinate substrate assignments.
Maintain the Substrate Assignment Spreadsheet for efficient tracking and decision-making.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders and supplier invoices, supporting a seamless three-way match process.
Vendor and Supplier Management:
Evaluate suppliers based on quality, reliability, and pricing.
Conduct cost analysis and recommend vendor selections to the leadership team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
Compliance and Reporting:
Develop and enforce purchasing policies and procedures.
Track and report purchasing performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain operations, preferably in manufacturing or printing.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with MIS or ERP systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
Combination of office and manufacturing environment.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays as necessary.
Exposure to noise, chemicals, and other manufacturing-related conditions.
