Title:Medical Assistant
Location: Moorestown, NJ 08057
Schedule: Varies (8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, but has to be willing to work 12pm-8pm)
Pay: $20-24/hr
Responsibilities:
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing patient-centered care and ensuring the smooth operation of our health system medical practice. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing routine delegated clinical patient care duties under the supervision of medical and/or nursing staff.
- Handling administrative tasks such as answering phones, greeting patients, updating and filing patient records, and scheduling appointments.
- Assisting medical and nursing staff in various tasks, including obtaining physical measurements, documenting medical history, and vital signs.
- Conducting laboratory services, phlebotomy, and basic laboratory tests within POCT standards.
- Cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments according to health system standards.
- Administering medications as directed by a physician and preparing patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures.
- Performing electrocardiograms using age-specific standards.
- Demonstrating commitment to patient safety and actively participating in error reporting mechanisms.
Certification and Education Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologist, National Center for Competency Testing, or National Association of Healthcare Professionals - within 3 months - Required OR
- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - American Medical Certification Association - within 3 months - Required OR
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Allied Health Test Registry or National Association of Healthcare Professionals - within 3 months - Required
- High School Diploma / GED Required
Skills/Requirements:
- Must have experience with pediatrics and comfortable with giving vaccines.
- Knowledge of exam, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to react calmly and effectively.
- Working knowledge of sterile techniques, procedures, and techniques involved in administering treatments.
- Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety precautions.
- CPR Certification issued through an organization that requires hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (e.g., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
