Assembler I – Mechanical/Electrical Assembly
Location: Roselle, IL
Pay: $22.50/hr
Schedule: 1st Shift — Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (OT as needed)
Type: Full‑time, Contract‑to‑Hire
A global manufacturer specializing in industrial packaging equipment and automated machinery is seeking an Assembler I to join their production team in Roselle, IL. This facility builds precision tools, heads, and machine components used in high‑demand manufacturing environments. We’re looking for someone who has hands‑on experience assembling machines or mechanical systems and can step into the role with minimal direction.
Job Summary
The Assembler I is responsible for assembling mechanical and electrical subassemblies, performing functional tests, completing quality checks, and ensuring products meet specifications. This role supports the Tool and Head departments and reports directly to the Production Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions
Assemble components using hand tools and power tools
Verify dimensions, alignment, and functionality of assembled parts
Perform mechanical adjustments and alignments as needed
Conduct operating tests using product checklists
Use feeler gauges, arbor presses, hand trucks, and standard manual/air/battery tools
Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Install electrical components including switches, sensors, connectors, and wiring harnesses
Perform visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met
Identify and correct defects or discrepancies during assembly
Document assembly steps, test results, and quality issues
Record daily production data
Support 6S workplace organization standards
Assist in training less experienced team members
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
0–1 year of mechanical or electrical assembly experience
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Competencies: Adaptability, communication, detail orientation, listening, energy, integrity
Additional Requirements
Must provide your own steel‑toe boots
Other PPE will be provided on‑site as needed
Must be able to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
