Packaging Mechanic – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Job Responsibilities
The Packaging Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and reliable operation of all packaging line equipment. Key duties include:
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Hands‑on experience with PES (Packaging Efficiency Solution) equipment including: unscrambler, desiccant inserter, slat machine, vision systems, cottoner, capper, retorquer, labeler, bundler, and more.
Perform equipment challenge tests, in‑process checks, and complete all associated documentation.
Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on all packaging equipment.
Perform setups and changeovers for packaging lines.
Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues independently or with engineering support.
Monitor machinery performance to minimize downtime and ensure consistent operational effectiveness.
Ensure all equipment operates under continuous cGMP‑compliant conditions.
Serialization & Technical Support
Proficient in Systech Serialization (Level 4) and aggregation: setup, troubleshooting, and validation.
Troubleshoot vision systems, serialization equipment, barcode readers, and PLCs.
Support installation, IQ/OQ/PQ qualification, and improvement of packaging equipment.
Maintain inventory of change parts and spare parts.
Documentation & Compliance
Document all work in logbooks, work orders, BMRAM, and Batch Records.
Follow all SOPs, safety requirements, and gowning procedures.
Collaborate with engineering and operations to improve efficiency and throughput.
Train and support Packaging Operators to reduce downtime and enhance productivity.
Qualifications:
Must have practical, hands‑on experience as a Packaging Mechanic in a pharmaceutical environment.
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow machine manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.

Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or Technical School Diploma required.
Associate’s Degree in Electro‑Mechanical Technology or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years of pharmaceutical packaging line experience strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and technical background.
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, pneumatics, servo systems, and electro‑mechanical machinery.
Knowledge of serialization and cGMP regulations required.
Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
Must be able to gown and work in protective gear per SOP.
