Case Manager
Location: Newark, New Jersey (Downtown – steps from Newark Penn Station)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Work Setting: Fully Onsite
Salary: $45,000–$46,000 annually (up to $48,000 for an exceptional candidate)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Case Manager to support individuals with disabilities participating in vocational training and employment programs. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about social services, enjoys hands-on work in a small, collaborative office environment, and thrives when wearing multiple hats to support individuals in meaningful employment.
This is a fully onsite role located in downtown Newark. There is no parking provided, so public transportation is strongly preferred. If driving, candidates will need to secure street or paid lot parking independently.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Services
- Serve as the primary support person for employees during training, providing counseling, advocacy, mediation, and resource brokerage
- Assess potential barriers impacting employee success and develop plans to address them
- Create, implement, and monitor service plans/contracts to support vocational program goals
- Provide ongoing case management and maintain consistent progress tracking
- Monitor attendance, time‑off requests, and employee performance
- Collaborate regularly with the Project Manager and leadership to align on strategies and support needs
- Develop corrective action plans and incentive programs as needed
- Promote a positive work culture, resolve grievances, and maintain harmony among coworkers
Administrative Tasks
- Ensure individuals meet AbilityOne program qualifications and maintain confidential medical and eligibility records
- Utilize existing systems and develop new tools to enhance delivery of individual and group services
- Maintain communication with liaison counselors and partner agencies; document evaluations and accommodations
- Build and manage a resource library for disability‑related services, including military‑specific resources
- Support program evaluation by maintaining accurate documentation
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Serve as EN Specialist for the Ticket to Work program, including writing IWPs and managing required follow‑ups
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field (minimum)
- At least 5 years of direct social services experience working with individuals or groups
- Strong sense of accountability, reliability, and pride in work
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative approach to supporting workplace morale
- Flexible, socially conscious, and team‑oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to provide physical assistance to individuals with disabilities (if physically able)
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed
