Solderer (Manual/Hand Solder Technician)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Solderer (Manual/Hand Solder Technician) to perform manual soldering of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies. This role is responsible for producing strong, defect-free solder connections while maintaining quality, workmanship, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual soldering of electronic components, including through-hole components, SMT touch-up work, wire harnesses, and connectors using hand tools and soldering irons.
- Inspect solder joints for defects such as cold joints, bridging, and insufficient solder.
- Follow IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Perform rework and touch-up of defective solder joints.
- Utilize magnification tools and microscopes for fine-pitch soldering work.
- Maintain soldering equipment, including tip cleaning and replacement.
- Follow ESD-safe handling procedures for sensitive electronic components.
- Complete quality documentation and traceability records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
- IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and steady manual dexterity.
- Ability to work under magnification for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic understanding of electronic components and circuitry.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check, including THC screening.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated environments.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot solder defects.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and documentation requirements.
