Job Description:
The Plant Mechanic will develop, monitor, and document maintenance criteria for plant equipment and
overall maintenance needs. As the primary person responsible for the Plant and Equipment Preventive
Maintenance (PM) plans, the Plant Mechanic will work under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer
and ensure that routine and emergency maintenance needs are addressed promptly and effectively.
Additionally, the successful candidate will support Operations with the focus on zero or minimal workflow
interruptions and will work to build relationships with Production Team and QA Team members.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and oversee preventative maintenance programs on all equipment, building,
and machinery. - Install, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain hydraulic loading docks plates, forklifts, forklift batteries, and pallet jacks.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and conducting
diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and repair for all equipment, plant wide. - Consult equipment manuals and phone or online resources to effectively maintain equipment in
proper working order. - Keep all equipment lubricated and in good working order every day, preventing shutdowns by
foreseeing potential problems with all necessary equipment. - Participate in the selection of new/replacement equipment for the facility.
- Maintain inventories of plant equipment parts and supplies.
- Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Actively engage daily with company employees, monitoring and verifying PM plan needs and
emergency maintenance needs. - Participate in continuous improvements to product safety and quality with various employees.
- Follow all plant safety, USDA, SQF and GMP guidelines.
- Work with integrity, accuracy, and moral conduct as related to all business opportunities and
activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. (Food processing
equipment experience desirable). - Strong pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, welding, and industrial skills.
