Job Summary
The Access Coordinator plays a key role in supporting patient satisfaction by delivering exceptional customer service to patients, families, caregivers, providers, and the community. This role is responsible for coordinating and scheduling outpatient appointments and procedures while ensuring accurate pre‑registration and smooth patient access. The Access Coordinator will support up to three less complex clinical divisions and contribute to efficient patient flow and first‑contact resolution.
Essential Functions
- Accurately schedule outpatient appointments and procedures while completing pre‑registration activities.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patients and families, delivering professional, courteous, and compassionate service during every interaction.
- Collaborate with physician offices and clinical departments to coordinate services and prepare patients for upcoming visits.
- Ensure all required information is collected to support efficient workflows and a positive patient experience.
- Maintain clear communication and follow established processes to support access and scheduling operations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong customer service experience in a professional or healthcare‑related environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including clear diction, articulation, and professional phone presence.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to think independently and maintain courtesy at all times.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Advanced scheduling and/or registration experience.
- Medical insurance knowledge or experience.
- Call center experience.
- Familiarity with insurance and managed care terminology.
- Understanding of workflows and relationships within a hospital or healthcare environment.
Education
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED

- Bachelor’s degree
