Position: Data Analyst
Summary
The Data Analyst/Programmer (DA.P) plays a key role in the pre-production department, focusing on data organization, file preparation and output for pre-press files for a variety of print, fulfillment and mailing projects. The DA.P is responsible for enrolling new and transitioning existing customers into the customer communications management platform (CCM) and managing implementation of the system.
As a Variable Data Programmer you will be analyzing, processing, and presorting client data and converting data into usable files for the production departments and client analytics. Creates dynamic, variable data templates and customizable content while ensuring data integrity.
Schedule: M-F, days
Pay: $22-$25, depending on experience
Responsibilities
- Overall management of customer data files, incorporating variable data for print and mail projects, including letters, postcards, books, brochures, etc.
- Prepare customer data files as appropriate, including converting, merging, updating and creating new output files using specialized software
- Design maps for imposition and incorporation of 2D matrices, QR codes and Intelligent Mail barcodes
- Liaise with customers as needed to understand data content and business requirements
- Serve as the staff “expert” in the Uluro CCM platform, leading staff training as well as customer file/account conversion, updates and maintenance
- Troubleshoot to identify issues and develop solutions to ensure files are error-free
- Recommend and/or implement processes to improve accuracy and meet deadlines
- Ensure adherence to service-level agreements and deadlines
- Analyze project outcomes, and prepare and present reports to customers and management as required
- Responsible for merging design layouts with complex programming logic through creation and output for cross media and traditional print campaigns (i.e. variable personalized URLs and emails).
- Perform a hybrid of a traditional production artist/pre-press type activities, programming using scripting languages, and the ability to manipulate data, to achieve programming objectives defined in requirements documents.

Skills and capabilities
- Proven experience in statistical analysis and working with data sets, data analysis tools and relational databases
- Experience working in integrated CCM platforms, such as Uluro
- Knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL
- A solid understanding of data sources, data organization and storage
- Exceptional attention to detail

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to apply concepts to the larger business context
- Programming skills including, C++ or C#, SQL, Python, Acrobat, Analytics, Excel, Coding
- Mail list data processing & variable letter setup software experience in the following software packages is preferred; BCC or similar production software.
Experience and education
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, mathematics or related field or equivalent data analysis certification
- 3-5 years’ experience in a data analytics role
- 2-3 years’ supervisory experience
- Experience in print and mail industry a plus
