We are seeking a hands-on Director of Maintenance, Tooling & Facilities to lead and optimize operations across two manufacturing sites. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will oversee building operations, equipment reliability, and tooling lifecycle management while driving safety, efficiency, and cost control. Salary is: $160-$170k with 10% Annual Bonus!
Must-Haves
- Plastics manufacturing experience (injection molding/extrusion required).
- Food industry experience is a plus.
- Hands-on leadership style (not a desk-only role).
- Strong background in contract negotiation and vendor management.
- Ability to manage Maintenance Managers and Facilities Managers across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for Facilities, Maintenance, and Tooling departments to ensure safety, maximize equipment uptime, and reduce quality concerns.
- Develop long-term departmental roadmaps, including structure, staffing, and process improvements.
- Manage repair and maintenance budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and oversee capital projects.
- Ensure utility systems (compressed air, chilled water, inert gas) meet current and future business needs.
- Coordinate and supervise internal teams, vendors, and contractors for machine repairs, building maintenance, and janitorial services.
- Conduct facility inspections, manage moves/adds/changes, and review work orders for accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead vendor management, contract negotiations, and service-level performance monitoring.
- Mentor and coach team members, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure alignment with company values.
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in facilities, maintenance, and tooling management within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven expertise in preventive/predictive maintenance programs and tooling lifecycle management.
- Experience managing budgets, capital projects, and long-term asset planning.
- Knowledge of OSHA, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with CMMS/work order systems and maintenance KPIs.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
