Location: Edison, NJ
Pay: $75,000 – $95,000 annually (based on experience)
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Superintendent or Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for operating, repairing, installing, and maintaining equipment across pumping stations, water storage facilities, booster stations, metering pits, and well fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain instrumentation including flow/pressure meters, transmitters, and monitoring systems
- Service chemical feed systems (chlorinators, metering pumps)
- Maintain HVAC systems and facility equipment
- Inspect and test system protection equipment (relief valves, pressure systems)
- Maintain emergency equipment (generators, emergency lighting, response systems)
- Troubleshoot pumping systems (mechanical, electrical, SCADA)
- Perform inspections and maintain repair records and parts inventory
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and facility modifications
- Handle chemical receiving and storage procedures
- Support emergency repairs and plant operations
- Participate in on-call rotation and work overtime as needed
- Perform facility upkeep (cleaning basins/tanks, snow removal)
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license required
- Minimum 6 years of experience in maintenance of industrial or mechanical equipment
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, or chemical feed systems preferred
- Ability to obtain within 3 years:
- T-1 License
- NJ Black Seal License
