Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Central New Jersey(Edison based)
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:00pm (with rotating on-call and weekend coverage)
Our client is looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment at water treatment and distribution facilities. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills who enjoys working in a critical infrastructure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, generators, chemical feed systems, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational reliability.
- Inspect, test, and maintain emergency and protection systems, including backup generators, emergency lighting, and safety equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of treatment plant equipment, intake stations, metering facilities, and HVAC systems as needed.
- Maintain maintenance records, inventory levels, and assist with facility upgrades, modifications, and equipment installations.
- Participate in on-call rotations, emergency response activities, and general facility maintenance including cleaning, snow removal, and equipment shutdown/start-up procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license required.
- Minimum six (6) years of maintenance experience in water, wastewater, utility, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of pumps, motors, electrical systems, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, chemical feed systems, carpentry, or related skilled trades preferred.
- Ability to obtain a New Jersey T-1 License and Black Seal License within three years of employment.
