About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-orientedShipping Clerk to support our warehouse operations and ensure efficient daily shipping workflow. This individual will work closely with drivers, forklift operators, and internal teams to maintain accurate documentation and keep shipments moving smoothly. Shipping clerks typically verify and maintain records for outgoing shipments, prepare shipping documents, and help coordinate transportation logistics, consistent with industry standards.
Title: Shipping Clerk
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (occasional later hours on busy days)
Pay: $18–$21 per hour, DOE
Location: Suffolk, Virginia
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Shipping Operations
· Sign in drivers and assign loading doors.
· Assign orders to forklift operators.
· Update paperwork and Bills of Lading (BOLs).
· Update and maintain the shipping schedule.
Documentation & Communication
· Respond to emails and communicate clearly with internal and external partners. (Manager-provided)
· Prepare and verify shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
· Maintain shipping logs and records to support compliance and traceability.
Coordination & Quality Control
· Verify outgoing shipments and ensure order accuracy.
· Collaborate with carriers and warehouse personnel to facilitate on-time shipments.
· Support inventory awareness through accurate paperwork and updates.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Strong communication and clerical skills, including email correspondence.
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Exceptional attention to detail.
· Basic computer proficiency for documentation and schedule updates.
· Familiarity with warehouse or logistics processes is a plus.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
· Ability to stand and move within the warehouse for most of the shift.
· Ability to lift or maneuver packages or paperwork as needed.
· Comfortable working around warehouse equipment and truck activity.
