The Food Safety & QA Specialist I plays a key role in ensuring that all food safety policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at the production-floor level. This position supports the Quality Assurance (QA) department by helping ensure the facility and its products meet customer expectations, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the company’s Food Safety Program, including all related policies and protocols.
- Review daily records for quality inspections, HACCP, SSOP, and GMP compliance.
- Conduct routine observations of food safety practices, sanitation processes, and inspection activities on the production floor.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of food safety programs and regulatory requirements.
- Lead or assist with weekly/monthly inspections in collaboration with process owners and cross‑functional departments.
- Understand audit requirements; review records for compliance and assist with audit preparation and documentation.
- Track and analyze trends related to food safety inspections, self‑inspections, and other quality metrics for management review.
- Use available data to support continuous improvement initiatives across production, maintenance, sanitation, and QA.
- Participate in regular Food Safety Training sessions.
- Lead or contribute to meetings with Quality and Production teams to ensure clear communication of food safety and quality priorities.
- Support the development and maintenance of written programs, policies, and procedures.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Education: BS in Food Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role within a food production environment required.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and food safety management systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- HACCP certification preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
