Position Overview
The Construction Superintendent serves as the on-site leader responsible for directing all phases of field operations on commercial and industrial construction projects. This position ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. The Superintendent coordinates daily activities among subcontractors, vendors, and team members, driving progress and maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. This role calls for a decisive, organized professional who leads through action and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to maintain schedule and workflow efficiency.
Monitor performance and quality to confirm work aligns with project specifications, plans, and industry standards.
Conduct and lead site meetings with subcontractors and foremen to align on goals, safety expectations, and timelines.
Maintain proactive communication with the project team regarding schedules, submittals, RFIs, materials, and site logistics.
Identify and resolve potential construction conflicts or design issues before they impact the schedule or budget.
Document site activity through accurate daily logs, including weather, manpower, materials, and progress notes.
Enforce compliance with all safety standards and ensure a clean, organized job site at all times.
Verify adherence to building codes, permits, and inspection requirements.
Foster teamwork and collaboration among trades while maintaining a professional, respectful work environment.

Supervisory Scope
This position oversees all day-to-day field operations, including the performance of subcontractors and site labor. The Superintendent may also mentor and train junior team members or assistant superintendents as needed.
Work Conditions
Work takes place on active construction sites, both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions and environments with elevated noise and dust. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required. The role typically operates Monday through Friday, with extended hours or weekend work during peak project phases.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, or crawl for long periods across uneven terrain.
Lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for safety observation and communication.
Operate vehicles and construction-related equipment safely as required.
Schedule & Travel
This is a full-time position averaging approximately 50 hours per week. Travel is primarily local to assigned job sites, with occasional trips for meetings or training.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or trade education preferred.
5+ years of construction experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
Proficient in reading blueprints, specifications, and schedules.
Familiarity with project management and construction documentation software.
Demonstrated success managing subcontractors and site logistics on active projects.
OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
