Description
We are seeking a dedicated Poultry Service Technician to support our contract growers and ensure optimal flock performance through strong farm management and husbandry practices. This is a full-time position that requires occasional after-hours emergency support.
Job Summary
The Poultry Service Technician plays a key role in maintaining productive relationships with contract growers while ensuring flock health, proper farm operations, and compliance with company programs. The position includes regular farm visits, monitoring bird health, coordinating supplies, and supporting growers in maximizing performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct weekly (or more frequent) farm visits to assess flock health and provide guidance.
Complete detailed service reports after each visit.
Maintain strong, professional relationships with contract growers.
Understand production costs and grower flock settlements.
Evaluate and advise on ventilation, water, litter quality, and overall turkey farm management.
Operate and understand ventilation controllers and related programs.
Monitor turkey health and diagnose disease through observation, post-mortem review, and coordination with state animal labs.
Deliver and maintain inventory of medications and supplies.
Administer medications as directed by veterinary prescription.
Communicate daily with the Production Manager regarding issues or updates.
Attend weekly production meetings and educational seminars.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience as a poultry service technician.
College degree with strong understanding of animal husbandry.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good driving record.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Physical Requirements
Ability to kneel, bend, walk, stand, stoop, reach overhead, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 60 lbs.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to read numbers, letters, and images with accuracy; strong hand-eye coordination.
Clear speaking and hearing capabilities for phone and in-person communication.
Work Environment
Exposure to farm environments and inclement weather.
Travel required using a company vehicle.
Some weekend and holiday work may be required.
