Service Technician – Fire Protection Systems
Location: Charlotte, NC (travel required within U.S.)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (6-month probation)
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Service Technician to join our U.S. team based in Charlotte, NC. This role focuses on the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Firefly fire protection systems at customer sites. The position requires hands-on technical expertise, strong troubleshooting ability, and the flexibility to travel extensively.
You’ll work closely with our Service Engineer team to ensure system reliability, deliver top-notch customer support, and represent Firefly as a trusted partner in fire safety technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repair work on Firefly fire protection systems.
- Troubleshoot issues both on-site and via phone technical support.
- Conduct service visits, including planning, scheduling, and follow-up documentation.
- Prepare detailed service reports according to company templates and routines.
- Maintain accurate customer and system documentation to support invoicing.
- Promote and sell spare parts, upgrades, and maintenance contracts to customers.
- Ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Travel Requirement
- Approximately 80 days per year, including some overnight and occasional weekend travel.
- Must be able to travel to Europe a couple times a year.
What You Bring
- Experience: A few years as a Service Technician (preferably with experience in fire safety, water, gas, or industrial systems).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- General understanding of electronics, industrial mechanics, and computer networks.
- Experience with CAN bus networks, industrial PCs, or PLC configurations is highly desirable.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or further education preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments.
- Solid computer literacy (Windows environment, configuration tools, etc.).
- Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken). Spanish would be a bonus.
