Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team and provide essential support to senior management. Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, this role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be ethical, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal errors.
Job Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly, 40-hour work week)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Reports to: Corporate Accounting Manager (CAM)
Travel: Minimal (occasional travel to outer offices may be required)
Key Responsibilities:
Record and maintain financial transactions in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
Facilitate vendor payments: verify federal ID numbers, maintain W-9 forms, review purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and issue 1099s.
Ensure timely closings for Accounts Payable, Cash Receipts, and review month-end balances.
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Prepare and file sales tax returns for VA, MD, and FL.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation (FAR knowledge is a plus).
Collaborate across departments for accurate financial reporting.
Assist with annual reports and filings.
Prepare monthly rent entries and book interest on an accrual basis.
Create amortization schedules.
Maintain asset/inventory listings in Excel and Deltek Vision; record asset entries and dispositions.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
Answer incoming calls as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Accounting Manager.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
4+ years of accounting experience preferred (less may be considered for entry-level roles).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; Deltek Vision experience preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Office setting with standard equipment (computers, phones, copiers, etc.).
Primarily a sedentary role; light lifting and occasional filing may be required.
