Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Camden, NJ 08104
Salary: $35-40/hr, Direct Hire Full-time with benefits
Schedule:
(1 opening) - 1st shift is M-F 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
(1 opening) - 2nd shift is M-F 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM (additional $3.50/hr shift differential)
The primary purpose of a Machinist is to set up and operate all machines in the Service Center to produce precision part. This role applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. It may require routine machine maintenance and programming capabilities.
Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Accurately read program, set up, and operate multi-axis CNC machines.
- Set up CNC Mill & Lathe machines using provided programs, fixtures, and tool lists.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and quality output.
- Monitor the feeds and speed of machines during the machining process.
Quality Control & Inspection:
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
- Inspect parts for close tolerance and surface finishes using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Maintain documentation of inspections and report any deviations or defects.
Blueprint Interpretation & Tool Management:
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics.
- Set and manage tools, including assessing tool life and wear.
- Utilize specialized or advanced variation tools as required.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Review and understand daily job assignments and production schedules.
- Load raw materials into the machines and verify proper alignment.
- Conduct machine warm-ups and ensure all safety checks are completed before operation.
- Perform first-article inspections and make necessary adjustments before proceeding with full production runs.
- Continuously monitor machine operations, making real-time adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, scrap, and rework data.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are clean, calibrated, and stored properly at the end of each shift.
- Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on process improvements.
Preventative Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines and tools.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on machines, including Haas, FPT, VBM, and Toshiba.
- Report any mechanical issues or potential failures to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment.

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-Year Technical Degree or completion of a relevant apprenticeship program required.
- Equivalent experience and on-the-job training may be considered in lieu of formal apprenticeship.
- 3-5 years of professional CNC machining experience required; 5+ years preferred.
- Experience with CNC machinery and programming required.
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens 840D, and HAAS controls preferred.
- Understanding of different metal types and machining characteristics.
