Title: Stamping Press Operator
Location: Maple Shade, NJ 08052
Summary
The Press Operator is responsible for effectively producing and inspecting stamped laminations used in the medical, aerospace, defense, and energy industries. The daily tasks of the position will center around the production of these laminations using presses of various tonnage as well as ensuring that customer and specification requirements are being met with use of various measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
Responsibilities
- Setting up and running a stamping press used in production
- Inspecting parts periodically through runs with the use of manual inspection equipment
- Maintaining records on production and inspection activities
- Operating equipment safely and efficiently
- Coordinating with quality control to identify non conforming parts
- Visually assess tool to identify maintenance and repairs needs
- Sets up and operates power press to trim, punch, shape, notch, draw, or crimp
metal, composite, or plastic stock: Assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press
according to specifications, using feelers, shims, templates, bdlts, clamps, and
wrenches. - Adjusts ram stroke to specified length.
- Positions workpiece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
- Starts press and observe operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- lnspects workpieces for conformance to specifications, visually or using gauges or
templates, and adjusts machine to correct errors. - May clean and lubricate machines.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of production experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills.
- Comfort operating stamping presses of various sizes.
- Willingness to undergo training when needed.
- Problem solving skills.
- Strong mechanical skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Candidate must possess the ability to understand press setup, assure the bed is clean and free
of FOD, stone the surface if needed. - Knowledge of safe operation of the punch press.
- Ability to read hand tools ie micrometers, height gages, and checking gages and arbors.
- Able to visually inspect material for unacceptable damage or flaws
- Ability to Visually inspect the die for issues.
- After training the candidate should be able to document on Inspection Forms
- Good interpersonal communication and motivational skills.
