Position Summary
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist for a long-term temporary assignment. This position supports payroll operations and related administrative functions for a large, multi-department organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Length of Assignment: Temporary, 9+ months
Pay: $25.00/hr+
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process payroll-related transactions and maintain accurate employee payroll records.
- Prepare payments and supporting documentation for payroll-related deductions and third-party remittances.
- Update and maintain employee information, including direct deposit details, tax withholding elections, deductions, earnings codes, and related payroll data.
- Generate, review, and analyze payroll and timekeeping reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Communicate payroll processing deadlines and requirements to internal stakeholders.
- Audit payroll transactions for active employees, new hires, and separated employees to ensure accurate compensation.
- Review and process various payroll adjustments, including retroactive pay, promotions, bonuses, reimbursements, leave payouts, and other compensation changes.
- Calculate and process final pay for employees separating from the organization.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting, and other departments regarding payroll processes and employee compensation matters.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll reporting activities.
- Support year-end payroll functions, including tax reporting and related documentation.
- Maintain confidential employee and payroll information in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous payroll, accounting, finance, or related administrative experience preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll processing practices, payroll taxes, and employee deductions is preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and cyclical workloads.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Experience working with payroll, timekeeping, HRIS, or accounting software is a plus.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
