About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead the launch, build-out, and ongoing operation of a new manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for establishing production operations, driving product industrialization, building high-performing teams, and implementing world-class manufacturing and quality systems.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in electronics manufacturing, operational excellence, quality management, and factory startup environments.
Key Responsibilities
Factory Build & Industrialization
- Lead the design, setup, and ramp-up of a new manufacturing operation in Charlotte.
- Define factory layout, equipment selection, production lines, testing strategies, and workflows.
- Drive product industrialization from New Product Introduction (NPI) through mass production.
- Establish production technology roadmaps including SMT/PCBA, assembly, testing, automation, and molding processes as applicable.
- Ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost objectives are met.
Manufacturing Operations
- Own production planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Manage capacity planning, work-in-progress (WIP), and on-time delivery performance.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency, throughput, and cost.
- Develop, monitor, and improve key manufacturing performance indicators.
Quality & Compliance
- Implement robust quality systems for in-process and finished goods inspection.
- Lead Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) reduction initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, environmental health and safety requirements, and OSHA regulations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, lead, and develop production supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and operators.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Develop standard work instructions, training programs, and plant operating procedures.
Supply Chain & Systems Integration
- Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to manage inventory, materials, and supplier relationships.
- Coordinate with international suppliers and subcontract manufacturers.
- Utilize SAP ERP systems for production control, inventory management, and reporting.
Strategic & Business Support
- Provide data-driven operational reporting to senior leadership.
- Support capital expenditure planning, make-versus-buy decisions, and long-term manufacturing strategy.
- Play a key role in the company’s U.S. manufacturing expansion initiatives.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in electronics, diagnostics, measurement devices, or similar industries.
- Experience building, launching, or scaling manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, including CoPQ, FPY, DPMO, and corrective action methodologies.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Experience working with global suppliers and international supply chains.
- Proven leadership, project management, and execution skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
Preferred
- Experience with SMT/PCBA manufacturing and/or plastic molding processes.
- Background in manufacturing engineering or product industrialization (NPI).
- Experience implementing automation and production test systems.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
