Powder Coater Operator
Location: Hanover, MD
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $21.00/hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Powder Coater Operator to support a busy manufacturing environment in Hanover, MD. This position is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components using powder coating equipment while ensuring adherence to quality standards, production timelines, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metal parts for coating, including cleaning, degreasing, sandblasting, masking, and proper racking
- Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns, booths, and curing ovens
- Apply coatings in accordance with job specifications and quality requirements
- Monitor coating application for thickness, consistency, and overall finish quality
- Load and unload parts from curing ovens and conveyors
- Inspect finished products for defects such as uneven coverage, contamination, or color variation
- Perform rework or touch-ups as needed to meet quality standards
- Maintain accurate production documentation and quality records
- Clean and maintain coating equipment, spray booths, and work areas
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE
- Assist with inventory tracking of powder materials and related supplies
- Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualifications
- Prior experience in powder coating, industrial painting, metal finishing, or manufacturing preferred
- Familiarity with powder coating equipment and application techniques
- Ability to read and follow work orders, technical instructions, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Basic knowledge of inspection processes and quality standards
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials throughout the shift
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment that may include heat, noise, dust, and chemicals (with proper safety measures in place)
- Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear
