Maintenance Tech
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Days
Pay: $17/hr
Location: Portsmouth, VA
Job Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform general maintenance and repair work across buildings, equipment, and facilities. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in multiple trades who can troubleshoot issues and complete a variety of repair tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair work across the facility
- Complete carpentry, drywall, and basic repair tasks
- Assist with installation and repair of cabinets, doors, windows, and fixtures
- Support minor plumbing and mechanical repairs
- Perform basic painting and touch-up work
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate solutions
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Complete work orders and document completed tasks
- Support general upkeep, including light janitorial duties
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related trade
- Knowledge of basic building systems (carpentry, plumbing, etc.)
- Ability to use hand tools and basic equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Good communication skills
