Position Summary
The HRIS Analyst serves as the primary technical point of contact for the college’s Human Resources Information System. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, testing system changes, and analyzing data flows for process improvement. The Analyst bridges the gap between Human Resources, Information Technology, and Payroll to support the unique lifecycle of higher education employees—including faculty, staff, adjuncts, and student workers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Workday Administration & Optimization
Serve as the functional expert for Workday, managing configurations, business processes, and tenant maintenance.
Lead the review, testing, and implementation of Workday semi-annual releases and feature enhancements.
Collaborate with IT and functional staff to ensure seamless integration between Workday and campus-wide systems (e.g., Student Information Systems or Financials).
2. Reporting & Data Analytics
Design and maintain complex Workday reports (Matrix, Composite, and Calculated Fields) to support institutional research and federal compliance, such as IPEDS reporting.
Analyze HR data to identify trends in turnover, recruitment, and workforce demographics to assist leadership in strategic planning.
Manage the annual salary increase and contract renewal processes within the system.
3. Support & Training
Provide high-level support for Workday-related issues, researching and resolving complex system errors or workflow bottlenecks.
Create user guides and conduct training sessions for department heads and administrative assistants on Workday Employee and Manager Self-Service.
Manage security groups and permissions to ensure data privacy and compliance with FERPA and HIPAA.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in HRIS administration.
Technical Requirement: Expert-level proficiency in Workday is a must. Candidates without direct Workday configuration and reporting experience will not be considered.
Location: Must reside in the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area. This position requires regular on-site presence for campus collaboration and training.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Data Modeling).
Proven ability to build and maintain Workday Business Processes and security roles.
