Collections Specialist Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM
- One Saturday per month required
- Pay Rate: $22–$26/hour
- Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
Collections Specialist Responsibilities:
- Utilize strong interpersonal and persuasion skills to maintain a positive Credit Union image during difficult conversations
- Communicate with members regarding delinquent accounts, answering questions and resolving complaints with professionalism
- Manage bankruptcy-related processes, including reviewing files, validating proceedings, and identifying potential fraud
- Work with bankruptcy attorneys and courts to negotiate prompt recovery of collateral
- Monitor loans to ensure members in bankruptcy maintain appropriate insurance coverage to protect Credit Union assets
- Apply knowledge of loan policies, procedures, documentation requirements, and bankruptcy law to minimize losses
- Manage projects independently while working efficiently under pressure
- Maintain accurate notes, documentation, and records of all communications
Collections Specialist Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous collections experience required (banking or credit union environment strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of loan processes and bankruptcy concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stay calm, professional, and solution-focused in high-stress interactions
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Reliable, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with members, attorneys, and internal teams
