HVAC Manager Job Description:
- Lead strategic and day-to-day HVAC operations: job scheduling, field execution, and workflow optimization across a growing fleet of 5+ trucks.
- Supervise, train, and develop HVAC department; ensure technical performance, safety compliance, and jobsite professionalism
- Build and implement repeatable systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for installation, diagnostics, service calls, job documentation, and inspections
- Manage CRM and field service software; ensure accurate job data capture, timely updates, and system-driven accountability
- Monitor job progress from intake through completion; ensure efficient deployment, minimal callbacks, and timely customer follow-ups
- Collaborate with Operations, Insulation/Weatherization, and Customer Service for seamless handoffs and accurate job scoping
- Maintain all documentation standards: permits, inspection coordination, equipment logs, jobsite photos, and reports
- Oversee fleet readiness, tool inventory, and warehouse coordination
- Track and present division KPIs: labor utilization, revenue/ truck, gross margin per job, and service quality metrics; present performance insights to the COO monthly
- Support HVAC team recruiting, onboarding, and career development
- Ensure compliance with HVAC codes, safety standards, utility rebate requirements, and company QA protocols
- Manage vendor relationships, warranty partners, and permit authorities to streamline operations and minimize disruptions
HVAC Manager Job Requirements:
- 5+ years HVAC field experience (residential or light commercial)
- 3+ years managing HVAC teams or operations in an install-driven environment
- Strong knowledge of HVAC installations, diagnostics, load calculations, and system design
- Experience installing heat pumps is strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with CRM/Field Service platforms to manage workflows and team accountability
- Proven ability to create systems and documentation processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- EPA 608 Universal and/or NATE certification of state HVAC licensing
- Familiarity with BPI standards or weatherization programs is a plus
- Comfort with dashboards, data tracking, and KPI reporting
- Working knowledge of boiler systems and indoor air quality products helpful
