Job Title: Controller
Location: Maple Shade, NJ
Pay Range: $100,000 - 110,000
Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday, normal business hours
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Controller to manage the organization’s accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), contracts, and financial reporting. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of financial reports, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring that internal controls and budgets are well-established. This role also includes coordinating financial audits and maintaining internal financial software systems.
The Controller plays a critical role within our Corporate Office team, offering leadership and strategic financial guidance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting activities, including A/P, A/R, billing, and fixed assets.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, offering coaching and professional development.
- Oversee the monthly close process and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare internal and external financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Analyze financial data to assist management with business decisions.
- Oversee grant and contract accounting, providing financial support for grant requests.
- Coordinate financial audits and tax return preparations.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage cash transactions and bank accounts.
- Serve as the internal lead for financial software and reporting needs.
- Assist in budgeting processes and provide financial reporting to senior leadership.
- Handle ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller.
- Expertise in financial reporting, GAAP, and budget management.
- Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sage 100, and financial report generation.
- Strong strategic thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in non-profit accounting and knowledge of grants or government contracts preferred.
- Experience with financial software systems implementation is a plus.
