Export Specialist
Location: South Charlotte, NC
Schedule: Monday-Friday | First Shift
Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Export Specialist to join a fast-paced logistics and supply chain organization in South Charlotte. This role is responsible for coordinating international export shipments via air and ocean freight while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a customer-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate export documentation for international shipments.
- Arrange cargo pickups, transfers, and transportation activities.
- Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers and overseas partners.
- Communicate with international agents, carriers, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Obtain and negotiate spot rates when required.
- Process shipment files, maintain customer records, and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Create customer invoices and review associated payables.
- Audit shipment files for compliance, accuracy, and completion.
- Enter shipment data and upload required documents into company systems.
- Resolve shipment issues and provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist other departments as needed to support business operations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, import/export, or supply chain operations preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Professional demeanor with a customer-service mindset.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
- Prior experience with export documentation, freight forwarding, customs processes, or international logistics is highly preferred.
Work Environment
- 100% office-based position in a climate-controlled environment.
- Fast-paced logistics environment requiring strong multitasking abilities.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work.
