Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift Job Description:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all 3rd shift production functions to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely operation of a print manufacturing facility. This position provides leadership to shift personnel, maintains production quality standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring customer expectations and service level agreements are met.
Responsibilities include:
- Hire, train, coach, and manage shift personnel while ensuring appropriate staffing levels
- Develop employee schedules to maximize production efficiency and meet operational demands
- Monitor production operations and ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and on time
- Troubleshoot and address equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime; escalate unresolved issues to site leadership as needed
- Develop a strong understanding of business processes, production equipment, and software used in print and insert operations
- Manage temporary vendor access and ensure security protocols are consistently followed
- Assist with production budget management and staffing plans while minimizing overtime costs
- Identify and implement opportunities for improved productivity and operational efficiency
- Support site quality objectives by investigating quality concerns, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
- Promote LEAN manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the shift
- Participate in and support Kaizen events and process improvement activities
- Build strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and internal leadership teams
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift Job Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in Manufacturing or a related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
- 10 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred
- Previous experience in print manufacturing or related production operations is a plus
