Maintenance & Tooling Supervisor

Salary: $95,000 – $115,000

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Maintenance & Tooling Supervisor to lead maintenance and tooling operations within a dynamic injection molding manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, tooling readiness, and overall operational efficiency while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards
- Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices
- Support ISO/IATF compliance, audits, and corrective actions
Maintenance Management
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Maintain high uptime for:
- Injection molding machines
- Robotics and automation systems
- Plant utilities (chillers, dryers, compressors, conveyors)
- Develop maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Manage maintenance records, CMMS systems, and spare parts inventory
- Conduct root cause analysis and coordinate emergency repairs
Tooling & Mold Management
- Oversee mold maintenance, repair, and readiness
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for tooling
- Coordinate mold changeovers and production readiness
- Support mold trials, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to reduce defects
- Coordinate with external tooling vendors and mold makers
Team Leadership
- Supervise maintenance, mold, and tooling technicians
- Provide training, coaching, and performance management
- Ensure coverage across production shifts as needed
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives
- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and reduce downtime
- Implement predictive maintenance technologies
- Identify cost savings and process improvements
Budget & Vendor Management
- Manage maintenance and tooling budgets
- Control repair and spare parts costs
- Negotiate with vendors and manage external contractors
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred
- Technical diploma with extensive experience considered
Experience
- 5–10+ years in maintenance/tooling within injection molding manufacturing
- 3+ years in a supervisory role
- Strong experience with automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
- Deep understanding of injection molds and tooling maintenance practices
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and automation systems
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints
- Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
