Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Production Lab Technician to join our team in Chestertown, MD. This is a direct hire opportunity offering stability, competitive pay, and long-term growth. The 2nd Shift Production Lab Technician plays a vital role in supporting production operations, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Schedule & Hours
- 2nd shift, Monday through Friday
- 3:00 PM – 11:15 PM
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment with proper training as a 2nd Shift Production Lab Technician
- Prepare reagents according to established procedures and production priorities
- Maintain accurate records including machine performance logs and product samples
- Assist with daily machine setup and equipment adjustments
- Attend and actively participate in shift huddles
- Ensure production rates and quality standards are met and promptly address issues
- Transport product using pallet jacks and carts
Continuous Improvement & Safety
- Participate in Lean activities including Kaizen events, 5S programs, and Lean training
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using DMAIC methodology
- Complete monthly safety observations and comply with all safety requirements
- Notify Supervisors/Managers of any production, equipment, or safety concerns
- Provide feedback to leadership regarding training needs and complete additional training as required
- Assist other departments and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (high school chemistry or chemical handling experience preferred)
- Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
- Sound judgment, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and work overtime as needed
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills with Production, R&D, and Quality Control teams
- Ability to remain focused and not easily distracted
- Ability to wear a chemical cartridge respirator
- Ability to lift and transport 40–50 lbs
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Indoor work in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing step ladders
- Use of pallet jacks and operation of various manufacturing equipment
- Requires strong focus, communication, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail
