HR Benefits Manager

We’re looking for a positive, experienced HR Benefits Manager to join our client's Management team and play a key role in administering and supporting their health and welfare plans.
About the Role: The Benefits Manager is a senior position responsible for overseeing health and welfare benefit administration, enrollment, and communications. This role works closely with plan participants, unions, employers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth enrollment, strong member support, and compliance with plan documents and regulations.
You’ll lead our communications efforts, manage Open Enrollment, serve as an escalation point for complex issues, and help enhance processes and best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee eligibility, enrollment, and participant records across multiple systems
- Manage complex enrollment processes and audit data for accuracy
- Support Open Enrollment planning, execution, and member education
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned health plans
- Lead benefit communications, including newsletters, letters, flyers, and websites
- Develop educational materials and support campaigns for new benefits
- Handle escalated member inquiries related to claims, eligibility, or plan interpretation
- Ensure compliance with plan documents, CBAs, ERISA, HIPAA, and other regulations
- Assist with audits, reporting, and data requests
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve procedures and systems
- Serve as a primary point of contact for unions and participating employers
- Attend meetings, benefit fairs, and enrollment sessions as needed
- Communicate plan updates and enrollment requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Risk Management or equivalent experience requiredÂ
- 5 years of HR benefits administration or enrollment experience requiredÂ
- 3-8 years of leadership experience highly preferredÂ
- Experience with complex, unionized, or multiemployer health plans preferred
- Strong knowledge of health benefits (medical, Rx, dental, vision, ancillary)
- CEBS designation preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
