Child Care Teacher – Early Childhood Education
Location: Richmond, Virginia, 23298
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (7.5‑hour shift between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM)
Start Date: March 2, 2026

Salary Range: $38,000 – $48,000 per year
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Instruction
- Plan, develop, and implement creative lesson plans for your assigned classroom.
- Incorporate Reggio Emilia principles in indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
- Promote cognitive, social, language, fine motor, and gross motor development.
- Support children’s emotional growth, self-esteem, and independence.
Child Observation & Parent Communication
- Document daily activities and developmental progress.
- Prepare and deliver reports, updates, and observations to parents.
- Ensure smooth transitions for children entering or leaving the classroom.
Classroom Environment & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, hazard‑free classroom environment.
- Follow infection control procedures and monitor safety risks.
- Clean and sanitize surfaces, toys, equipment, and furnishings routinely.
- Remove damaged items and report environmental or safety concerns.
- Ensure proper supervision indoors and outdoors at all times.
- Correctly prepare and store cleaning solutions in compliance with policy.
Team Collaboration
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers within your classroom.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and required CE sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers, team leads, site supervisors and directors.
- Assist with maintaining a well‑stocked, developmentally appropriate classroom.
Compliance & Standards
- Adhere to all licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
- Follow center policies and best‑practice guidelines for early childhood education.
- Complete required documentation, records, and reports.
Other Duties
- Support special projects and center initiatives as needed.
- Accept alternate classroom assignments when required.
Required Qualifications
Education (choose one of the following):
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Psychology, or related field
OR - High School Diploma/equivalent plus a minimum of 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or related area
OR - Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- Previous experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years (paid or unpaid)
- Minimum 2 years of formal experience in early childhood settings

- Physical requirements: frequent bending, climbing steps/ladders, and lifting as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Experience with children ages 6 weeks to 2 years
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy
