Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift – Food Manufacturing

Job Summary
A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician with strong electrical and mechanical expertise. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, solutions-driven, and committed to high-quality results with a “get it done right” attitude.
The Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and packaging equipment; execute electrical projects; and perform fabrication and welding tasks. This role requires regular equipment inspections, responding to maintenance requests, and strict adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
Safely operate power tools, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems across the facility.
Perform welding and fabrication work for maintenance projects.
Conduct preventative maintenance ranging from daily to annual intervals.
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics (50% minimum proficiency; full proficiency preferred).
Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues independently.
Maintain 5S standards and general housekeeping.
Follow all safety regulations and contribute to improved safety practices.
Identify, document, and repair faulty or improper machine operations.
Support multiple areas of the facility as needed.
Maintain compliance and certification with the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program.
Provide written daily pass-down communication.
Provide training and support to operations staff.
Communicate effectively with machine service engineers regarding technical issues.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of:
Mechanical and electrical maintenance practices
Hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
PLCs and related software
Food production or packaging equipment (preferred)
Ability to:
Understand and perform basic PLC operation
Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Communicate effectively (written and verbal)
Follow established guidelines and instructions
Demonstrate strong safety and quality behaviors
Proficiency in:
Work Environment
Work performed in a food ingredient blending/processing facility
Exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations
Physical Requirements
Occasional workstation/desk work
Frequent response to line calls throughout the facility
Regular standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders
Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally
Qualifications
High school diploma required
Associate degree in a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of Mechanical, Electrical, and Fabrication/Welding experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with food blending or packaging machinery is a plus
