Warehouse & Operations Manager -Location: Chicago, IL
Compensation: $125,000 annually + 20% performance bonus
Position Summary
A leading specialty food distributor is seeking an experienced Warehouse & Operations Manager to oversee daily operations within a high-volume distribution center. The ideal candidate has a strong background in warehouse management, logistics, and process improvement, with at least seven years of hands-on leadership experience in fast-paced environments.
This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence across receiving, inventory, order fulfillment, shipping, and safety while fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee all warehouse operations, including inbound/outbound logistics, order fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and quality control.
Lead, train, and develop a diverse team of warehouse associates and supervisors to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company standards.
Implement and maintain best practices for safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate cross-functionally with purchasing, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, fill rate, and on-time delivery to drive continuous improvement.
Maintain compliance with all food safety, OSHA, and internal regulatory standards.
Manage operational budgets and contribute to cost reduction initiatives without compromising service or quality.
Support technology and system upgrades to improve warehouse tracking and reporting capabilities.
Ensure the warehouse facility remains organized, clean, and compliant at all times.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in warehouse, logistics, or operations management (food distribution or cold chain experience preferred).
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
Strong leadership and communication skills with proven success managing teams in a fast-paced setting.
Skilled in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and achieve operational KPIs.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, or extended hours as needed.
