In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up and improving CNC machining processes for both new and existing parts. This includes programming CNC machines (mills and lathes), setting up tooling, creating instructions, and making sure each job runs smoothly and efficiently. CNC Programmer/Setup Technician Job Details:

Schedule: 7:00AM-3:30PM EST Monday-Friday

CNC Programmer/Setup Technician Job Description:
· Performs changeovers between existing jobs in CNC machines (vertical and horizontal mills and lathes)
· Creates CNC programs using G-code and/or MasterCam
· Setup all tooling for the new products and setup tooling (Parent/child) in ERP system
· Assigns and labels locations for all new tools in the racks at the work centers.
· Removes or inputs tools in machines as required for each job
· Maintains tools, (physical locations) and in ERP system
· Creates/updates the setup, loading, and inspection work instructions for new and existing jobs
· Machines and inspects the first piece to meet the drawing/required tolerances
· Ability to interpret CMM print outs and make adjustments to programs/process as needed
· Makes necessary adjustments to CNC programs to ensure cycle times meet standards
· Runs new jobs until process capability is achieved. (CPK >= 1.67)
· Ability to interpret and read blueprints in order to perform necessary functions of machine operation and machining of parts.
· Ability to use precision measuring equipment including manual gages and CMM’s
· Ensures new processes meet safety/ergonomic and 5S standards
· Trains operators on new and existing processes
· Understands IATF 16949 standards and ensures processes are compliant
· Uses/develops SPC on new and existing processes
· Leads continuous improvement projects with focus on improved quality, tool life improvement, and cycle time reduction.
CNC Programmer/Setup Technician Job Requirements:
· Machine Trade School Certification, or a minimum of 5 years work experience as set up machinist
· Applicable math background and skills
· Blueprint reading and interpretation skills
· Working knowledge of the machinability of metals
· Thorough knowledge of geometric tolerancing
· Understanding of Micro finishes and how to obtain specific finishes
· Proficient in MasterCam and Solidworks a plus
