Job Description for Project Manager:
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers, actively prospect for new business, and support customer inquiries to ensure business growth.
- Prepare project estimates based on initial scope and specifications; collaborate with the Estimating team to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
- Manage the full lifecycle of electrical projects, including oversight of all scheduling, resources, and subcontractor management. Ensure the project progresses on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Work closely with Estimating, Programming, Purchasing, and Operations teams to ensure all aspects of the project meet lead time, quality, and profitability targets.
- Review contracts, documents, plans, and specifications; prepare proposals and change orders as necessary.
- Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations and standards, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including obtaining necessary permits.
- Monitor project costs and profitability, including overseeing job cost reports, profit projections, and ensuring proper cost coding of subcontractor and supplier invoices. Approve and review invoices for accuracy.
- Manage subcontractors to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met. Verify subcontractor invoices and conduct performance evaluations.
- Serve as the key point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, including safety, quality, budget, and timeline adherence.
- Identify and address potential project risks or issues, adjusting schedules and project plans as needed to maintain success.
- Participate in regular project meetings, provide technical guidance, and act as a liaison between internal teams, subcontractors, and customers.
- Lead the debriefing process at the end of each project, ensuring results are archived and lessons learned are documented for future improvements.
Job Requirements for Project Manager:
- A minimum of 5 - 10 years in project management, with a background in electrical systems, industrial/commercial projects, and estimating.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Valid driver’s license required for travel. Master Electrician certification preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of AutoCAD, ERP systems, and estimating software such as Vista and Accubid. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) is essential.
- Ability to perform complex calculations related to project costs, margins, and estimates.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to frequently stand, sit, stoop, walk, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and handle moderate to loud noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to moving equipment and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Experience in steel fabrication, industrial piping fabrication, welding, and installation of multiple systems
- Frequent travel to job sites is required
