The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, moving, and shipping materials, supplies, and finished products within the facility. This role involves operating material handling equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring a safe, clean work environment to support daily operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Unloading: Unload incoming freight, verify shipment counts against packing slips, inspect cargo for damage, and process receiving documentation.
Material Movement: Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods safely between storage areas, production lines, and loading docks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
Order Picking & Packing: Accurately pick, stage, and package materials or products for outbound shipment according to work orders and pick lists.
Inventory Control: Conduct routine cycle counts, update warehouse management system (WMS) records, and report stock discrepancies or damaged goods immediately.
Staging & Organization: Organize stock in assigned rack locations or bulk storage areas to optimize space and improve operational flow.
Safety & Maintenance: Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections, adhere to OSHA and facility safety protocols, and maintain a clear, hazard-free workspace.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
Equipment Certification: Prior experience or active certification on powered industrial trucks (stand-up/sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, or electric pallet jacks) preferred.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly, and stand or walk for long periods on concrete floors.
Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with barcode scanners or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
