Title: Seanitation Operator
Location: Bellmawr, NJ 08031
Duration: 3 month temp-to-perm
Shifts: 3rd shift available 10pm to 6am (must be available to work weekends)
Pay: $17.50
The Sanitation Operator is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and food-safe environment within a commercial bakery production facility. This role ensures all equipment, production areas, and storage spaces meet food safety standards in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
- Required to learn, understand and follow all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s)
- Clean and sanitize production lines, mixers, ovens, conveyors, racks, and packaging equipment.
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, walls, drains, and work surfaces
- Disassemble and reassemble bakery equipment for deep cleaning
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation procedures according to Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
- Remove waste, dough scraps, and ingredient residue safely and efficiently
- Use cleaning chemicals according to SDS guidelines and food safety standards
- Maintain sanitation logs and documentation accurately
- Prepare equipment for production start-up after sanitation
- Completes all tasks assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor/Lead as well as project work assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor
- Must be able to work independently to accomplish job tasks
- Responsible for following all safety procedures.
- Follows GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, allergen and company food safety policies
- Identify and report maintenance and/or food safety concerns to supervisors
- Follow all company Color Code procedures
- Know where emergency STOP and START/STOP buttons are located
- Responsible for learning and following all Lock Out / Tag Out procedures for machines
- Must pass company forklift training class and maintain certification
- Must complete chemical handling class
- Perform all special requests by Sanitation Manager, Sanitation Supervisor and Sanitation Lead
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous sanitation experience in food manufacturing or bakery environment preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards (GMP, HACCP) is an asset
- Ability to safely handle industrial cleaning chemicals
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- May require overnight, early morning, weekend, or holiday shifts
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and short periods of bending, climbing, and lifting overhead. Must be able to lift approximately 40 pounds over head
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working around powered equipment, slippery floors and dusty areas. Very hot conditions during summer seasons. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, loud equipment, and varying temperatures. Company issued protective clothing such as uniform, gloves and safety glasses are required. Every employee must wear slip resistant shoes to comply with our company safety policy.
