The Deputy Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the activities of the department, researching, planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and managing human resource programs and policies. This role involves assisting the Director in leading the department and staff, ensuring professional development, policy adherence, and budget maintenance. The Deputy Director will oversee areas such as recruitment, compensation, employee relations, training, benefits, and HR systems, ensuring efficient service delivery.
Job Details for Deputy Director of Human Resources:
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM (Fluid)
- Salary: $108,000 - $125,000
- Direct Hire: Full Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, 401K with match, PTO, and Paid Holidays
Job Responsibilities for Deputy Director of Human Resources:
- Assist the Director in leading the department and staff.
- Oversee recruitment, compensation, employee relations, training, benefits, and HR systems.
- Design and implement programs, policies, and strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and COBRA.
- Advise on policies to promote inclusivity and civility.
- Stay updated on HR trends and provide recommendations for competitive recruitment and retention.
- Represent the county on boards/committees and participate in meetings as needed.
- Prepare documents for vendor procurement and assist in contract negotiations.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and assist with administrative duties as needed.
Deputy Director of Human Resources Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources administration and management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of recruitment, selection and retention, benefits administration, employee relations, claims and compensation, compliance, county-wide/local government programs, HRIS systems, and developing training programs.
- Experience in a government or local government position.
