Legal Assistant (Commercial Litigation)
Location: Springfield, MO
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 Days In Office, 2 Days Remote
Compensation: $55,000 - $70,000 Annually (DOE)
Our client, a respected and growing law firm, is seeking an experienced Client Delivery Specialist (Commercial Litigation) to become a key member of its litigation team.
This is more than a traditional legal support role. The Client Delivery Specialist serves as a trusted operational partner to attorneys, helping manage workflow, coordinate legal matters, support client service initiatives, and ensure deadlines and deliverables stay on track.
Position Summary
The Client Delivery Specialist serves as the primary operational partner for assigned attorneys within the Commercial Litigation practice. This role manages workflow execution, matter coordination, cross-functional collaboration, client communications, document management, billing support, and administrative operations while reducing attorney project-management burden.
The successful candidate will maintain direct responsibility for attorney relationships, matter completion, workflow execution, and coordination across operational teams.
Strategic Workflow Ownership
Manage the full lifecycle workflow for assigned attorneys.
Proactively anticipate attorney needs, manage priorities, and resolve administrative challenges with minimal supervision.
Coordinate and track ongoing projects to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
Monitor milestones, update status reports, communicate progress, and assist with project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
Effectively utilize workflow management software to log, manage, and track assignments.
Handle special projects and additional duties that support attorney productivity and practice efficiency.
Commercial Litigation Support
Prepare, edit, format, proofread, and manage legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, presentations, and litigation-related materials.
Manage document version control, file organization, and secure document storage in compliance with firm policies.
Facilitate the execution, filing, distribution, and tracking of legal documents.
Support complex commercial litigation matters while maintaining organized case files and matter documentation.
Assist with court filings and electronic filings (e-filings) in state and federal courts.
Prioritize assignments and consistently meet critical litigation deadlines.
Maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced legal environment.
Conflicts, New Business Intake & Matter Management
Prepare and process new matter intake forms.
Request and coordinate conflict checks.
Open new matters and maintain accurate matter documentation.
Coordinate intake and engagement processes while reducing repetitive attorney involvement.
Monitor matter status and ensure all intake requirements are completed accurately and timely.
Billing, Financial Coordination & Collections
Assist attorneys with tracking and monitoring alternative fee arrangements.
Assist attorneys with automation, tracking, and monitoring of matter budgets.
Partner with billing teams regarding time entry, billing inquiries, and collections.
Monitor billing-related workflows and help ensure financial processes remain on track.
Client Service & Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and internal departments.
Coordinate client communications and manage sensitive information.
Build trusted relationships with attorneys, clients, and business professionals.
Coordinate work across multiple departments and operational teams to ensure timely completion of projects and deliverables.
Delegate specific tasks to appropriate support teams to ensure coverage, quality control, and efficient workflow execution.
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss workflow, priorities, and ongoing projects.
Technology, AI & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
Leverage automation tools, dashboards, AI technologies, and workflow systems to improve organization, tracking, and execution of work.
Participate in AI and technology-related training programs to maintain proficiency with emerging tools and services.
Research emerging legal technology solutions and best practices.
Recommend process improvements that streamline workflows, increase accuracy, and enhance service delivery.
Required Experience
5+ years of experience providing comprehensive support to organizational leadership, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
3+ years of legal support experience required, with a strong focus on Commercial Litigation.
Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment.
Experience with court filings and e-filings.
Strong legal document preparation, proofreading, and document management experience.
Experience coordinating deadlines, workflows, and multiple competing priorities.
Education
Bachelor's degree required or an equivalent combination of professional and educational experience.
Associate degree and relevant experience considered.
High school diploma required.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
Experience utilizing document management systems and workflow management software.
Minimum typing speed of 60 WPM.
Strong communication, grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
