Job Summary:
The Purchasing Analyst I is responsible for supporting the procurement, forecasting, and inventory management of raw materials and packaging supplies. This role works closely with management, production, sales, and suppliers to ensure accurate forecasting, consistent material availability, and strong vendor performance while maintaining data integrity within ERP systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with management to develop and refine raw material forecasts.
Evaluate forecasts from sales, production, and management, making adjustments based on inventory, warehousing, and production needs.
Review supplier shipping schedules and proactively address potential inventory concerns.
Assist in sourcing raw materials and packaging supplies, including supplier interviews to gather pricing and specification details.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of supplier quality issues.
Help manage bulk tank inventory levels to support production requirements.
Investigate and resolve accounts payable discrepancies.
Maintain and update inventory spreadsheets; verify inventory as needed.
Coordinate logistics of raw material shipments, including international orders.
Ensure ERP system accuracy and streamline transactional processes.
Monitor supplier performance and support audit compliance activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of purchasing or supply chain experience (or equivalent education).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience in chemical or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly inventory control and data entry.
- Strong time management skills; self-starter with initiative.
- Proactive communication with the ability to anticipate and resolve supply issues.
- Detail-oriented, with proven accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
- Experience with vendor management, order follow-ups, and shipment tracking.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with both internal teams and suppliers.
- Comfortable working in both office and plant/warehouse environments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk as needed.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
