Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Camden, NJ 08103
Salary: $72-77k/year
Duration: 4 month contract-to-hire
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will ensure the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices in partnership with the PEO provider.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting & Retaining Top Talent
- Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring and on-boarding of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Create personnel files and update all platforms with regard to new hires, audit files ensuring all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, Fair Housing, and other identified priority training.
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Processes various leave circumstances, including FMLA, medical leaves, Workers' Compensation, STD and LTD claims.
Employee Relations
- Conduct 30, 60 & 90 day check-in for all new hires.
- Assist in internal employee dispute resolution.
- Provide coaching and counseling to remediate conflicts.
- Plans and facilitates employee events, recognition, etc.
- Conduct, review and track all exit interviews
Compliance
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Administrative
- Compiles and analyzes metrics on staff turnover, workers' compensation trends, related information, etc.
- Assist in developing employee training materials & planning employee events and celebrations
- Assist with payroll processing
- Occasional Travel to Conferences, Training and Sites
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when/if appropriate.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least 3-5 years of human resource experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Previous PEO experience preferred
- Must have a high standard of integrity/confidentiality, be able to adapt to changes, alter their approach or method to best fit the situation, effectively present information and respond to questions from staff.
- Detail oriented with a strong proactive initiative to work with minimum or no supervision while demonstrating a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, even when dealing with difficult staff situations.
