Full-Time | $95,000–$110,000 + 10–15% Bonus

About the Role:
We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on Controller to take charge of the financial health and strategic direction of a growing drayage and intermodal logistics company. In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and collaborate closely with operations to ensure alignment between financial performance and business goals.
This position is ideal for a seasoned finance leader with a solid background in accounting and deep expertise in the intermodal and transportation sector. If you’re passionate about numbers, logistics, and operational efficiency — we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the financial reporting process (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Deliver timely and accurate financial insights and KPI dashboards to leadership
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts; monitor and optimize budget performance
- Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and banking relationships
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across intermodal operations
- Conduct profitability analysis by route, service line, and customer
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements (e.g., IFTA, IL EPA)
- Manage audits, payroll, employee benefits, fuel tax filings, and insurance coverage
- Establish and maintain internal controls; assess financial risk and exposure
- Lead or support a small accounting/finance team
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in a senior finance or controller role
- Drayage, intermodal, or transportation/logistics industry experience is REQUIRED
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial compliance, and logistics-specific financial metrics
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Analytical, detail-oriented leader with excellent communication skills
