Position Overview:
The Shipping Associate plays a critical role within the Operations Team. This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of all shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in handling shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Verify and sign off on the accuracy of packing list quantities for both incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Prioritize and complete multiple tasks based on instructions provided by the Logistics Supervisor.
• Work effectively within a small team (typically five or fewer), ensuring clear communication and information retention.
• Utilize ERP software to process receipts, shipments (including customer, subcontract, drop-shipments, and miscellaneous), material movements, and more.
• Research ERP modules to locate parts and retrieve transaction histories.
• Capture, document, and store photos of products shipped (all items are photographed before shipment).
• Schedule and oversee parcel and LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipments as necessary.
• Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with various departments to provide status updates and address any challenges or delays in project delivery.
• Coordinate with the supervisor to identify and order materials, tools, and supplies as needed for projects.
• Investigate and report shipping and receiving discrepancies, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
• Review the Operations Dashboard daily to ensure Drop-Shipments are processed and that the current shipping schedule is understood.
• File claims with freight companies for lost, damaged, or missing items and follow up to resolve the issues.
• Deliver receiving packing lists and Inventory Movement Reports to the Accounting Department daily.
• Work with Purchasing, the Logistics Supervisor, and Accounting to resolve shipping and/or receiving discrepancies.
• Regularly review and respond to emails with a focus on timely communication.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED; Associate’s Degree is a plus
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in job-shop fabrication is a plus.
• Experience in packaging and loading large equipment is highly desirable.
• Forklift experience and/or certification in the transportation of large equipment is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working efficiently and effectively with team members.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills.
